Someone was arrested in Truckee. Here's what happens next.

An arrest in Truckee rarely ends in Truckee. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office substation on Donner Pass Road is a temporary holding facility — twelve beds, built for booking and short stays. Most people arrested in the Truckee area are processed there and then transported over the summit to the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility in Nevada City, roughly forty minutes west on Highway 20 in good weather and considerably longer in bad.
That geography is the single most important thing to understand about bail in Truckee. Where your family member physically is right now determines what we can do and how fast. Call us and we will find out before you spend the night guessing.

What we do

We post the bond. You pay a percentage instead of the full bail amount, we take on the obligation to the court, and your family member goes home while the case is pending.

The premium on a California bail bond is a set percentage of the face amount of the bond, filed with the California Department of Insurance. Ten percent is standard. Anyone quoting you dramatically less is either not licensed or not telling you the whole arrangement. We will tell you the number on the phone, in plain dollars, before you commit to anything.

Why Truckee is different

Three counties, one interstate.

Truckee sits where Nevada, Placer, and Sierra counties meet, with sixteen miles of I-80 running through town. Arrests along that corridor can land in any of the three county systems, and the bail schedule, the court, and the jail are different in each. We work all three.

Winter changes the timeline

Chain controls, closures, and summit conditions affect inmate transport and release logistics. When Donner Pass is closed, the paperwork still moves — the people do not. We plan around it instead of being surprised by it.

Visitors and second-home owners

Half of Truckee's housing is second homes and vacation rentals, and the population swells on weekends and holidays. A large share of arrests here involve people who do not live in California. Out-of-state residency does not disqualify anyone from a bond. It changes the paperwork and the co-signer conversation, and we handle that routinely.

What we need from you

Four things get a bond moving. Have them ready and this goes faster:

Full legal name and date of birth of the person in custody

Which facility they are being held at, if you know

The bail amount, if it has been set

A co-signer who can be reached

If you do not have all four, call anyway. Locating someone in the Nevada County system is part of what we do and it costs you nothing to ask.

Areas we serve

Truckee, Donner Lake, Tahoe Donner, Glenshire, Northstar, Soda Springs, Kingvale, Norden, Floriston, Hirschdale, Prosser, and the I-80 corridor from Cisco Grove to the Nevada state line. We also serve Kings Beach, Tahoe City, and Tahoe Vista in Placer County.

Licensed and accountable

Roseville Bail Bonds has been writing bonds in Northern California since 2005. We are veteran-owned and licensed by the California Department of Insurance, license number 1843126. That license number is public. Look it up — for us and for anyone else you are considering.
